Would you recommend a 1999 Mercury Cougar as a beginner Vehicle?

I am looking for a vehicle to start out with that is Reliable, Economically-Smart, and still Stylish. Any recommendations? Are there any benefits/drawbacks to buying a 1999 Mercury Cougar?
