Venus Fly Trap - Ericaceous Soil?

Carnivorous plants such as the venus fly trap thrive in very poor soils, hence their need for nutrient-rich insects. If you plant such a species in ericaceous or other nutrient enhanced soil you will lose it. Try planting your vft seed in the soil in which garden moss is growing or other nutrient-poor soils and it will soon thrive.
