Isn't the revolution in Libya doomed to fail?

While the U.S. is helping out for the time being, unless we provide the rebels with significant weapons to defeat Gaddafi's tanks and ground forces, it is only a matter of time before he will prevail. Is it likely at all that the rebellion will ever receive these weapons?
