Does Gamestation refund faulty products at a store?

I bought a ps3 for xmas but turned out to be faulty, I phoned their helpline and they sent a courier to pick it up. I asked when it would be returned/replaced and they said it would take weeks. If I brought proof of purchase to a Gamestation store would they give me a replacement ps3?
