Anyone had to look after a child that's had their tonsils removed ?

Surgery is scheduled for 5 days time , i am confused about the risk of infection .Have asked the hospital 5 times n got 5 different answers .Have been told he cannot leave the house for a week which is impossible , i am on my own with a dog .My son will cope with being cooped up but not that all his mates are playing out & yelling for him ;.I was going to solve this by taking him to our allotment just before the schools come out , feeding him there & coming home slightly later but the latest advice is not to go out unless it is fine & dry .UK weather is dubious . He has had four other ops on his mouth - cleft palate - all involved stitches etc .It is not his normal team looking after him & i am fine with that but the new lot - ENT_ don't seem to explain consistently .I know i am having a bit of a wobble over this & will phone his usual surgeon on monday ,But i do not trust the ENT at the minute . Help needed .
